Senior Citizen Centers

Rides to area senior citizen centers for lunch and other services are offered on the following days:

  • Randolph - Mon. through Thur. 728-9324.
  • Quintown (Hancock) - Mon., Wed., and Fri. 767-3763.
  • South Royalton - Tues. and Thur. 763-7386.
  • Chelsea - Mon. and Fri. 685-2290.
  • Orange East (Bradford) - Mon., Wed., and Fri. 222-4782.

To request a ride, contact your senior center. Home delivered meals may also be arranged. There is no charge for this transportation.

Medicaid

For eligible persons, Medicaid will pay the cost of transportation to necessary medical services when, generally, there is not transportation available in the household. Prescription pick-up may also be arranged.

Medicaid transportation is limited to medical services available at the closest location. Transportation to medical services (except for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center) beyond 30 miles from your residence, requires a prior authorization from your treating physician or psychiatrist. Medicaid will not pay for any trips or additional stops beyond the most direct route to the intended medical service.

Medicaid requires that all trips be prior authorized by contacting Stagecoach. This can be done by calling the Ride Coordinators at 728-3773 or 800-427-3553. They will need to go over Medicaid enrollment information with you, such as address, social security number, eligibility, trip time, date, and destination.

For trips that meet Medicaid eligibility requirements (i.e. person has Medicaid on the trip date, trip is prior authorized; trip is to the closest facility, etc.) Stagecoach will make the trip arrangements. This may include placing the trip on an existing public transportation route, using a volunteer driver, or scheduling a taxi. Medicaid directs Stagecoach to arrange each trip using the most suitable, cost effective mode.

It is helpful if you can contact us regarding a trip at least 24 - 48 hours in advance. Our ability to schedule a trip often depends on the availability of volunteer drivers and taxis. The greater the notice, the better the chance of getting your trip arranged.

Ticket to Ride

Arranged through the Stagecoach, Ticket to Ride helps pay up to 80% of the cost of rides for senior citizens (60+) and persons with disabilities when there is not available transportation in the household or the person requesting the trips is unable to drive on the day of the trip. Ticket to Ride is available for a broad array of destinations, such as medical services, shopping, errands, and social purposes. The person receiving the ride will be requested to pay 20% of the cost of the trip.

On an annual cycle, between July 1st and June 30th, an individual can receive up to $425 worth of rides; $625 for a two-person household; and $850 for a person transported in a wheelchair. Transportation provided for people under the category of critical care, which is intended for dialysis and cancer treatment related travel, is limited to ten rides per month for dialysis and 15 rides per month for cancer treatment. All transportation provided through Ticket to Ride is conditional upon the availability of funds in the program.

Ticket to Ride will not pay for rides to airports, train / bus stations, or out of state locations, except Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH or shopping in West Lebanon, NH.

Private Pay

If you would like a ride that is not eligible for payment through Medicaid or Ticket to Ride funding, you may still have Stagecoach arrange the trip. Prior to delivery of the trip, Stagecoach will request an advance payment.
