Your Ideas, Please
What are your thoughts about the public transportation services provided by Stagecoach? What is working well? What improvements can be made?
Over the next several months, Stagecoach will be reviewing its current services and looking ahead over the next five years in developing its next Short Range Transit Plan. Vermont statutes require this kind of planning process of all transit providers who received public funds.
The Two Rivers - Ottaquechee Regional Planning Commission and the consulting firm of Milligan Associates, will assist Stagecoach in assessing our region's current transportation services, needs, and potential for growth and improvement. During the process, input from organizations, businesses, and individuals will be welcomed.
Thus, we would like to hear from you, either directly, or by participating in public forums, occurring in July and September. Ideas or concerns for inclusion in the planning project can also be sent to the Stagecoach by:
Information on the short range transit plan may also be obtained and comments posted by using the link below, or by selecting public transportation, through the State of Vermont website, and clicking on publications.

Attention 89er Passengers
The first stop on the 89er commuter route remains unavailable due to construction of a new park & ride lot at Exit 4, in Randolph Center. During the construction period, the 89er schedule (which is posted on this website) begins at the Stagecoach Depot in downtown Randolph (adjacent to the Amtrak platform). Morning departure times from this point are 6:10am and 6:35am, for the southbound trip to the VA Hospital in White River Jct., Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Dartmouth College (Maynard Street in Hanover). For those boarding in Randolph Village, parking for this stop is available (first come, first serve) at the Stagecoach Depot and at the municipal lot next to the post office.
When completed, the new Exit 4 park & ride lot will provide parking for up to 85 cars. It will also include a bus stop and shelter. It is expected that the 89er will be able to begin picking up passengers at this point by late August '08. The schedule will then resume from there with departures at 6:00am and 6:25am.
AARP DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM
Stagecoach will host an AARP sponsored Driver Safety class, for persons 50 years of age or older. The course involves two, four hour classes, which will be held on Thursday, May 8th and Friday, May 9th, between 8:00am and 12:00 noon, at the Stagecoach office in Randolph.
The course offers older drivers a chance to refresh their driving knowledge and to adjust driving skills for age related changes. It also offers tips on dealing with aggressive drivers, safe use of anti-lock brakes, air bags in conjunction with seat belts, and the effects of medications.
The goal of the Driver Safety class is to keep people safe by reducing the likelihood of being involved in an accident. Completion of the course may also qualify one for reduced automobile insurance rates.
To register or for more information, please contact Holly Brown at the Stagecoach (728-3773) or course instructor, Madison Boyce (728-3106), after April 30th.
